Ehukai
Introduced in 2014, the Ehukai, meaning "sea spray" in Hawaiian, represented a new wave of OC1 outrigger canoe innovation. Created by Puakea Designs in partnership with Outrigger Zone, this canoe utilized advanced manufacturing for a strong yet lightweight build. Designed by Johnny Puakea, it's celebrated for its agility and ease of paddling.
With its narrow bow and low volume, the Ehukai effortlessly maneuvers and accelerates on swells while maintaining speed. Its design allows for quick traversal of bumps and provides excellent glide on flat water. The narrow footwell optimizes stroke leverage and includes features like a footwell cover for surf and drainage plugs for calm conditions.

Kahe Kai
Puakea Designs and Outrigger Zone debuted the Kahe Kai OC1 canoes just days before the 2016 Molokai Solo, but team riders Jimmy Austin and Daniel Chun were so impressed that they raced with the new design that year.
Built by Outrigger Zone, the Kahe Kai is tailored for men and stronger women weighing between 140 and 250+ pounds. It displaces 10 more pounds of water than the Ehukai and is slightly wider with less rocker. Volume has been shifted forward, and adjustments were made to enhance dryness during surfing, including a taller bow, raised cockpit rails, and a higher footwell cover. While seat placement remains unchanged, it's slightly wider and lower. The rudder was raised, and the footwells are narrower and deeper compared to the Ehukai.
